Promising Byrnes Wins Bumper
Byrnes Cross looked like he'd be very hard to beat next time out when finishing second to Jessies Dream on his debut under Rules and that view was bourne out when Pat Sinnott's gelding won the Kevin Frost Memorial (Pro/Am) Flat Race under Mark Scallan.
The dual point-to-point winner picked up the running soon after halfway in John Brennan's silks and he galloped on well up the straight to beat Glam Gerry by two and a half lengths.
For Scallan (23) from Wexford this was a second winner on the racecourse to add to twenty two achieved 'between the flags.' This was a real Model county success as the trainer and owner are also from the South Eastern county. (EM)
