Trainer Kevin Prendergast gained a rare Graded win over jumps at Limerick today when his Katie T landed the Grade 3 Kerry Group EBF Mares Novice Hurdle, under Adrian Heskin.
The daughter of Beneficial was held up behind the leaders and while only third jumping the final flight, stayed on strongly on the run-in to wear down 9/10 favourite Urticaire close home, for a half length win.
The Classic winning trainer wasn't present and Heskin later reported “she is a good filly and although the race wasn't run to suit her, she caught them for speed on the run-in. Good ground will bring out the best in her.”
