Triple Sec rallied gamely to just prevail in the three-year-old handicap at Leopardstown, giving trainer Patrick Prendergast and owner Richard Barnes a quick double on the card.
The Lawman filly was produced to lead over a furlong-and-a-half from home in the seven furlong contest by Ronan Whelan.
She looked booked for second when Sagittarius Rising swooped inside the final furlong but got back on terms with that rival close home and got the nose verdict on the nod.
The 12/1 winner also scored in testing conditions at Tipperary last season and was making her return to action this evening. Raintree had initiated the brace for connections in the preceding maiden.
Prendergast said:- “She’s no star but by god she’s game. Ronan said she gave everything and was very tired after the race. She is what she is, a 70’s filly, and has won two now out of pure guts and endeavour.
“She goes on the ground well, and is a very likeable filly. Ronan gave her a great ride. She was drawn 12 and I thought during the race he might be burning too much early but he got it right.”
It was the second double for the yard in the past week, following on from a brace at Dundalk on Wednesday.
