Captain Power finally got there on start number seven last time, and with the breakthrough achieved he followed up, again under Robbie Downey, in the opening Leopardstown Summer Membership Handicap.
Downey's mount made his ground quickly when asked for an effort in the final quarter mile, and he then found enough to get the better of fellow 7/2 joint favourite, Ishebayorgrey by half a length.
"There are no owners here tonight as they are all in Portugal. It's their daughter Shanni's birthday. I've done my bit and all they have to do now is buy the drinks!" said winning trainer Eddie Lynam.
"He'll stick to those type of handicaps. We bred him so we're married to him." (GC & EM)
