The Mike Lawlee Memorial Handicap Hurdle (division two) at Listowel saw young Wexford amateur rider Tiernan Power-Roche partner his first track winner aboard Trans Wood
Combining with another Model County man, trainer Gordon Doyle, Power Roche had the pleasure of relegating a rider of Barry Geraghty's calibre into second place as Trans Wood defeated Giveittomestraight by two and a quarter lengths.
Patrick Farrell had a nice winner at Tramore recently with Lacken Bridge, and he also owns this Trans Island mare, Trans Wood.
"That's my first winner on the track and I've had five or six point to point winners. Thankfully Gordon has left me on that mare for a while now and he's been patient as we were waiting for a bit of better ground," explained Power Roche.
"He has also left me ride all his point to point horses all year and we've had a good year. I'm with Gordon a few days a week riding work and schooling and am originally from Wexford. I'm 20 and hopefully that's the first of many winners!"
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Grey Atlantic Way trained by Edmond Daniel Linehan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
D.J. Mullins, rider of Bomber Jackson trained by Mrs. Y. Dunleavy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was blowing hard.
