Porter benefits from weight swing
Benefit Of Porter reversed Galway placings with Clarach in no uncertain terms when taking the opening BBQ Evening At Tramore Races Ladies Maiden in fine style.
Pat Sinnott 's charge, enjoying her third win at the track, was beaten four and a half lengths by her rival in a handicap hurdle at Ballybrit last month but made amends here with an 8lb swing in the weights.
Helen Mooney (25) recorded her third winner when sending the well-backed 13/8 (from 2/1) chance to the front over a furlong out, and drove her clear inside the final furlong to beat Clarach (6/4fav) by seven lengths.
Sinnott said, “That was a good performance and I'm delighted. We've been hitting the crossbar lately and it's good to get one on the board. She loves this place, and the revised weights from Galway helped. Helen gave her a great ride, and hopefully she can repeat the dose back here on Sunday.”
The seven-year-old mare is declared in the featured Richard Power Handicap Hurdle on the final session of the four-day Festival in Tramore.
