Strong-travelling Portcammon made a winning debut for Willie Mullins in the concluding bumper at Roscommon.
The 4/5 favourite, who has a Flat pedigree, tanked along for Patrick Mullins as the pair came widest of all into the straight in their pursuit of the leader Pinky
That rival was swallowed up approaching the final quarter of a mile and Portcammon showed signs of greenness before being ridden to win his race at the furlong pole.
He stretched away in the closing stages to put four and three-quarter lengths on Jackson Lamb (22/1). Gambled-on Smiling Bess (12/1 - 15/2) was the same distance back in third.
Jockey Mullins said: “He has a very speed-orientated Flat-pedigree, so we thought the track would suit him. He was doing nice work at home and we thought he'd win.
“With his pedigree, he should be able to go back on the Flat as well.
“It was yielding ground but, in the straight it was a little bit slower, a little bit summer soft. It was good safe ground, a little bit slow in places but perfect ground.”
