Tom Weekes
Polished performance from odds-on Brass
The opening Flat maiden of the year in Ireland, the Follow Dundalk On Facebook Maiden at Dundalk today, may prove to be one of the least competitive races of its nature run all season with victory in the end going to 4/11 favourite Muck’N’Brass.
Apart from the winner, none of the eight runners had shown much ability in previous outings and the winner, under Champion Jockey Johnny Murtagh, recorded an effortless win over Atticus Finch
Winning trainer Eddie Lynam (also responsible for the runner-up) later said “it’s good to get the year off to a good start!”
“There doesn’t seem to be many here for the maidens at the moment but the handicaps are very busy.”
