There were two strongly backed horses in the concluding Racing At Dundalk Handicap and you've guessed it, they finished first and second. Phebes Wish (4/1 this morning into 2/1) and Pre Tax Profit (7/2 first thing in the offices into 2/1 joint fav) were separated by just a neck with the former coming out on top under Gary Carroll.
Pre Tax Profit made a bold bid from the front and he had them all on the stretch from two down.
To Phebes Wish's great credit he dug deep inside the final furlong to catch his fellow market leader near the line. The pair left Boom And Bloom three lengths further back in third.
John McConnell trains the winning son of Diamond Green for Derek Kierans and he said: "He's a genuine solid horse. The plan was that if he won tonight we'd put him away and go for the Scurry Handicap (Derby weekend at the Curragh).
"It's a stiff six furlongs, plus, which will suit him. He's won a few now and we might as well have a crack at a 100 thousand Euro race.
"It was a good ride from Gary. He's had three quickish runs and may benefit from a bit of a break now." (AM & EM)
