Following his win in the Listed Mares Hurdle at Punchestown earlier in the afternoon, trainer Henry De Bromhead completed an across the card double when Percy Warner landed the featured Kevin McManus Bookmaker Handicap Chase at Cork.

A two-time winner over hurdles for former trainer Gordon Elliott, the seven-year-old had shaped well on a couple of occasions sent being sent chasing with De Bromhead.

Held up towards rear in the early stages here, the Mikey O'Connor ridden gelding made ground before third last, arriving to deliver a challenge at the penultimate fence.

Any one of five horses could be called the winner on the run to the last but the Basil Holian owned gelding found most for pressure to stay on to take the plaudits by one-and-a-quarter lengths.

Winning jockey Mikey O'Connor said: "Regardless of the race, this horse likes to be ridden this way as he is the type of horse who needs to be warmed up. He put his head down and did it really well.

"He was full of running coming down to the second-last, my fuel gauge was reading pretty full and it was just a matter of not getting there too soon."
