Patience pays off for Bolger backers

The many supporters of the Jim Bolger runners at his local track in Gowran had endured three second placings with Feach Ar Agaidh Focas Mor and Naoise earlier on the programme. The deserved winner arrived under stable jockey Kevin Manning when Teoleena delivered in the Sweet Sunday Sept 21st From #22PP Handicap.
Jessica Harrington 's Port Merrion and Mansuri (with Ger Lyons and Colin Keane bidding for a treble) were expected to dominate this extended nine furlong race.
However Teoleena comes from a stable in good form as evidenced by many of its representatives, including yesterday's Ulster Derby hero Wexford Town.
On start number seven, Teoleena (9/2) found the best reserves of stamina in the closing stages to slam aforementioned market-leader Port Merrion by four and a quarter lengths.
Manning remarked: "The drop back in trip and the better ground helped her today." (DM & EM)
