Passing Trade gains reward for consistency

One from 38 was the record of Passing Trade (11/4 fav) before the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies’ Handicap but the very consistent Raven’s Pass mare doubled her tally with a game half-length win over morning-favourite Bestrella
To be fair to her, the winner has been placed umpteen times as well and her record at Bellewstown now reads two wins and a short-head second from three starts.
Winning trainer Michael Mulvany said “She has been Mrs Consistent for the past few years.
“She got chinned here last year on the line in this race and I said we'd come back and have another go at it.
“The syndicate is from the Goat Grill, including Charlie Chawke and Eamon Cleary. It's the first horse I've had for them and I'm delighted for them.
“She's in at Navan on Saturday and we'll run her again. She's a good, old, tough filly and I think the little bit of give in the ground helped too.
“That's her mark, around 70, but she has done her job now. She's a well-bred filly and she has two wins on her card now as well as a load of places. She doesn't really have to do much more.”
Winning rider Gary Carroll said: “We were sort of in between trips with this one. We’ve tried stepping her up and she nearly travels too strongly over further.
"This sort of trip (a mile) suits her and a strong pace for her to run at really suited her today. Everything just went right today and thank God she got her head in front."
