Park scores for Taaffe and Walsh

Peoples Park stayed on strongly in the closing stages to run out a convincing winner of the EasyFix Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse. Mister Hotelier soon built up a significant lead in the 2m1f contest but came back to the field after jumping the third last.
The Tom Taaffe-trained Peoples Park got on terms over the penultimate fence and the 7/2 favourite was in control in front going to the last. Caolaneoin gave chase but never looked like pegging back the Mark Walsh-ridden winner, who pulled away in the closing stages for a six-and-a-half length success in JP McManus’ colours.
"He jumped well and travelled well. It was a fast run race, and they went really quick over the first three,” said Taaffe.
“He's tough, and would handle softer ground. He's starting to grow up.
"We'll roll into Leopardstown and find something for him there."
