Paranoid (15/8 fav) took the Bet 10 Get 20 With MansionBet Handicap Hurdle under Davy Russell.
Free over the first couple of flights, Russell let the Mahler gelding stride on and he saw off several challengers up the hill after the final flight. Room To Roam (40/1) and Millen To One (9/2) filled the placings with just a neck and a head between the first three home.
Along with recent winner Presenting Dylan, the winner is amongst a batch of horses switched by owner Philip Reynolds from Pat Kelly’s stable to join Gordon Elliott.
Winning trainer Gordon Elliott, completing a quick double after Ragnar Lodbrok in the opener, said: “He was a little bit buzzy and it wasn’t the plan to make it.
“That’s the beauty of having Davy (Russell) and Jack (Kennedy) in a case like that though — they know what to do.
“It was a weak race and he’s an ordinary type — a low grade horse really, but it’s nice to get it.”
