Pal completes Mullins treble
Willie Mullins completed a just over 10/1 treble when Florida Pal in the Powerstown Park Flat Race joined Fionnegas and Dorset Square as Closutton winners on this seven race programme. Patrick Mullins squeezed just enough out of Florida Pal, the 4/9 favourite to prevail by a length over Iveagh House
This fellow, a course maiden hurdle winner, who lost that contest afterwards because of a banned substance being found in a sample, was travelling better than Iveagh House from a fair way out but in the end he just about had enough in reserve to triumph.
Mullins senior said: "To win on this ground with this fellow is fantastic because he is a really going to be a good ground chaser. He'll go hurdling now and then he'll quickly be sent over fences. He is a future National horse. He could be a horse for the four miler at Cheltenham."
Florida Pal is owned by the Stonebroke Club Partnership which comprises of Patrick's friends from college in Maynooth.
In other news from the venue, Patrick Mangan suffered a suspected broken ulna in a fall from Whinstone Boy in the three mile handicap hurdle.
