- Oxx saddles a 1,2 in final Curragh Listed event
Oxx saddles a 1,2 in final Curragh Listed event
Hazarafa led home a one two for John Oxx in the Listed Go Racing In Kildare Festival Finale Stakes as she beat her much shorter-priced stable-companion Roses For The Lady by a length and three parts. Ben Curtis did the steering on the Aga Khan owned and bred victor.
Riding his second Listed winner, Curtis (won a Listed race on Croisultan at Fairyhouse) got the successful grey daughter of Daylami to the front over a furlong out and from there she showed grit in abundance to beat Roses For The Lady. There was a two length gap back to Celtic Soprano and eight lengths further back to Lady Lupus
Oxx reported: "I suspect she'll go home tomorrow though you never know, there could be something abroad for her. She had a promising first run before disappointing a bit though that was on fast ground. She likes the soft, stays well and she has done her mission now.
"Roses For The Lady has run her last race and she ran well there on ground that wasn't quite soft enough for her. She has won a Listed race and she'll go to stud now too."
This win puts Ben Curtis back level on 33 winners with Gary Carroll at the head of the apprentice table. Joseph O'Brien is three winners further back in third.
