Outsider Artic wins Naas finale
The concluding Tote Trifecta Rollover Irish Bumper at Naas today was a strong betting race with bookmakers eventually saved by 16/1 winner Pride Of The Artic, under James Fahey.
7/4 favourite (from 3/1) Shrapnel appeared to hold a winning chance a furlong out but Pride Of The Artic stayed on strongly to eventually edge ahead near the line for a head win.
Afterwards winning trainer Peter Fahey, formerly a capable amateur rider, stated “I thought he’d have been sold after his point to point win but we decided to leave him off then as he wants good ground. We were worried about today’s dead ground and it looked a serious race on paper. We’ll go to Punchestwon next and hope for some nice ground.”
Jockey James Fahey is a son of trainer Seamus Fahey and a nephew of today's winning trainer Peter Fahey.
