Oscar Knight eased away from his rivals to stylishly deliver in the two and a quarter mile handicap chase at Galway.
He was fully seventh jumping the last but made rapid headway under Mark Walsh to chase down the leaders approaching the home bend.
The leader Kilmurry Kid was scrubbed along as Oscar Knight tanked along on the outside.
He soon took over and remained on the bridle as he eased home in the closing stages by a length and three quarters to justify 7/2 favouritism. Show And Go got a runner-up reward at 11/2 with Mick The Jiver (9/1) in third, beaten five lengths by the winner.
Trainer Tom Mullins said: "He got browned off last year but was entitled to do that on his hurdles rating. His jumping was a bit ragged last year and we left him off after he disappointed at the Fairyhouse Easter meeting.
"His jumping was better today and he'd prefer a trip. I've nothing in mind but hopefully he can continue to climb up the handicap ladder - he can go three miles or further."
