- Orchestral leads late
Orchestral leads late
Orchestral Leader (9/1) showed the benefit of his debut at the Curragh earlier this month when coming from an unlikely position to land the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Race under Wayne Lordan. Boris Grigoriev looked sure to land odds of 4/7 when sent to the front under two furlongs out. However he immediately began to hang and, with Joseph O'Brien resorting to the whip, tied up badly in the final furlong.
Lordan's mount was well off the pace over a furlong out but really got going in the closing stages to score by a length and a quarter from Snowflake Dancer (100/30), who relegated the hot-pot back to third.
Trainer David Wachman was understandably not on hand as he was away in Longchamp saddling Poule D'Essai Des Poulains contender Imperial Rome.
