Jockeys' Championship-chasing Colin Keane received a one-day suspension following his winning ride on quick filly Blue Uluru in opening Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Race at Dundalk today.
Keane made all on the daughter of Choisir, who was recording her sixth career success, but the pair edged left over a furlong out for which the former Champion Jockey later received his one day suspension.
The win moves Keane two winners ahead of Donnacha O'Brien (89-87) at the head of the Jockeys' Championship and following Blue Uluru's success, Shane Lyons, representing his brother trainer Ger Lyons, stated “she had to be (involved) in the race form-wise and also being drawn one
“It wasn't ideal after going to Newbury last Saturday and we were in two minds whether it took anything out of her.
“The ground was a bit loose on top at Newbury and Andrea (Atzeni, jockey) said that she just didn't like it. She likes good, honest to god, quick ground.
“She was drawn one today and had everything in her favour today and she's done it well. She did it like the way we thought she would.
“We've had a bit of a frustrating year with her, with little niggly problems, so we've had a late season and it'll stand to her next year.
“She'll be back in training next year and on her Listed win last year, hopefully if we have a clear run of it, she'll be exciting next year on fast ground.”
