Ontario back to best
Lake Ontario bounced back to winning ways when claiming the Mallow.ie Race under Seamus Heffernan at Cork.
The Ballydoyle runner, an impressive maiden winner at Naas as a juvenile, had failed to shine on two runs this season.
He was back to his best today, however, coming with a strong surge to lead just inside the final furlong.
5/4 favourite Cocozza chased in vain, only getting within a length-and-a-half of the Johannesburg colt.
"This time last year he was fourth in a Group race at York. He won well today and is game and genuine," said Heffernan afterwards.
