On The Other Hand back to his best

Thu 17th Sep 2009, 17:50

Despite going into the event with some uninspiring looking form figures (all those coming over fences) On The Other Hand appreciated a return to hurdles and landed some bets in the process (20s into 10s) when taking the Devon Inn Hotel Handicap Hurdle under David Casey.

J P McManus' nine-year-old son of Oscar, a six time winner already in his career, led at the last and stayed on well to repel Well Run by one a three parts of a length.

Successful trainer, Charlie Swan said: "He lost his confidence over fences but he'd always been working well. He needs good ground and he is in a flat handicap at Ballinrobe on Sunday but he might not get in there. The dam won four races for my father, all under lady pilots."
