Placed on all five of her previous starts, the 83-rated Ojw Legacy deservedly made the breakthrough in the Manguard Plus Maiden.

Bought for 60,000 pounds as yearling, the Damien Moore-owned bay filled the runner-up spot on her last three outings and was sent off the 2/1 favourite this evening.

Trained by Andy Slattery and ridden by his son and namesake, the Kodiac filly tracked the leaders for much of the contest and was third after halfway.

Ridden to challenge the front-running Yefimenko with over a furlong to go, she edged to the front inside the final 100 yards, prevailing by half-a-length at the line.

The aforementioned Yefimenko (13/2 from 15/2) had to settle for second on debut under Colin Keane for Ger Lyons, while Beatrix Power (6/1) was another two-lengths back in third.

"That was well deserved, very much so," Brian Slattery, brother of the winning handler, commented.

"She had been knocking on the door and had a few little unlucky stories here and there. She's a good filly and she deserved that.

"She's bumped into a couple in maidens and we're just delighted that she's won a Curragh maiden.

"The owners have an idea in their head and we'll see where they want to go after this."
