On his fifth start for the Mag Mullins-yard Odit scored on his first attempt over the larger obstacles when coming out on top in the Magners Forbidden Flavours Ladies Upstyle Hair Competition Win A Trip To London Beginners Chase at Downpatrick.
Formerly a winner when under Mervyn Torrens' care, Odit was upstaged over the final couple of fences here by Wes Hardin and a place in the frame looked likely to be his fate as the well-backed 11/4 favourite.
However the German-bred son of Kallisto and Danny Mullins just weren't for beating on this occasion and they powered home to defeat Wes Hardin by a length.
"That was his first run over fences. He's a bit highly handicapped (over hurdles) but still runs well every day so we said we would let him run over fences," explained Ms Mullins.
"He ran well here in two rated hurdles and a good race in Gowran. I think he has a bit of scope over fences. We'll keep him going, we'll see how he is tomorrow."
