Ochocinco (13/2) put in good late work to run down Marv Michael on debut in the opportunity maiden hurdle at Down Royal.
Colm Murphy 's Kalanisi gelding mowed down the 13/8 favourite close home to win by half a length. There was a nine-length gap back to third-placed Noble Blue (7/1).
Jockey Liam McKenna said: "In fairness, he only started travelling coming to three out. Before that, I was at him the whole way.
"I was on the phone to Colm coming down and he was quite bullish about him. I'm not saying he expected him to win, but he expected him to run a big race.
"On slower ground he will be better as well - it is a little bit lively out there.
"He's a big strong horse and will jump a fence in time, I'd say he will be better over fences."
