The Norman Lee trained Doctor P's Getaway gained a maiden success at Ballinrobe today, landing the Sweeney Oil Handicap Hurdle and completing a memorable seven days for winning jockey Darragh O'Keeffe.
Nineteen year old O'Keeffe partnered his first winner on the J.P. McManus owned William Du Berlais at Killarney last Tuesday before following up on the gelding five days later at Tipperary. Today he added a third winner in a week with Doctor P's Getaway, who was gaining his own first win at the 15th attempt, when scoring a length and a quarter success over Time Is Time
Afterwards Lee said “he was always going to win his race once he got good ground.
"He's a grand little horse, and he'll improve away now.
"We might go to Galway and have a bit of fun next week and he might run in the 0-109.
"He belongs to a good owner (Mark McDonagh) who's been with me now for three years.”
