- O'Grady's Article looks a Real star
O'Grady's Article looks a Real star
The Real Article landed a touch in great fashion when running away with the Friends Of Tipperary Hurdle at the Limerick junction track this afternoon.
Edward O'Grady 's charge was heavily backed from 9/2 into 11/4 favourite on track and his backers never had a moments worry. Luska Lad (a very easy to back 3/1 shot) took over from Fosters Cross four from home but had no answer when The Real Article jumped into the lead two out.
Barry Geraghty 's mount quickened up to settle matters before the last and the Definite Article gelding didn't need to hit top gear to record an eight-length victory.
Luska Lad just held off Donnas Palm to take the runner-up spot.
"The ground was as soft as he would want it. I walked the track at 8.15 this morning as I was so worried but I was pleasantly surprised," said O'Grady.
"He never got the opportuntity to take on the top novices last season as he was just not right. He was not a well horse in the spring.
"Obviously he's been improving and great thanks must go to my staff who have done a great job with him. The last piece of work he did was very nice.
"He may go to Down Royal for the Grade 2 race there and that will give him a chance to take on some of the good novices from last season."
Paddy Power introduced the winner as a 33/1 shot for the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham.
