There was a sixth winner over jumps for Mike O’Connor, three of which have now been achieved at Downpatrick, when Centurion Steel took the Cosy Roof Handicap Hurdle.
Following on from wins on Crimson Chief and My Manekineko at the County Down venue in the past, O’Connor got Centurion Steel home in front by a length and three parts from Favori Logique
After a win on Listenheretomejack at Ballinrobe on Tuesday, Centurion Steel’s win was keeping a good week going for the young Cork pilot.
He said: "The summer ground is probably starting to help him a small bit. He battled away the whole way to the line and I'm very happy with him.
"The horse in Tramore that day (Ballyadam Destiny) probably just got a run on him. It was still a brilliant performance out of him in Tramore, so we had to be positive coming into the race today."
