O'Connor receives all-clear
Champion point-to-point rider Derek O'Connor has been given the all-clear from doctors at Galway University Hospital following his heavy first fence fall from Captain Dash in the opening beginners' chase at Galway today.
O'Connor was earlier reported to be "fully conscious but very sore" following the crashing fall but speaking at 4.35pm today, O'Connor's brother Pauric O'Connor stated "Derek has passed every x-ray and thankfully, things are very good."
"He had awful pain in his neck and the doctors were initially worried about one vertabra but he has no fractures but will be kept in for 24 hours. He has bruising to his chest but is otherwise ok."
