O'Connell gets off mark as pro
Eddie O'Connell partnered his first winner as a professional when steering Mcswynes Bay to success at Downpatrick.
The Ray McGlinchey-trained gelding hit the front four from home and stuck on well in the closing stages to hold the challenge of No More Prisoners by three-parts of a length.
Kildare native O'Connell, who is based with James Lambe, had six winners on the track as an amateur and also rode seven point-to-point winners.
