Admiral D wins under Leigh Roche

After their success with Twilight Jet at Tipperary on Tuesday there were further gains for Michael O’Callaghan and Leigh Roche courtesy of Admiral D in the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden at Listowel.
The breeze-up recruits for the Crotanstown Stud team are likely best kept on side by punters in the coming weeks and months, now that the wins have started to arrive.
A son of red-hot first-season sire, Ardad, the victor here came forward nicely from a debut fourth placing at Fairyhouse eight days ago, to beat Threebagsfull by a length and a quarter.
“He needed the run the last day as he was green in Fairyhouse. Today he jumped and travelled away. We went a bit steady but once I switched him out in the straight, and got a backhander into him, he quickened up very well and hit the line very good," said Roche.
“He should improve a lot from today. The ground is slow, it’s not ideal for him, and when he gets better ground he’ll improve again. He’s a nice horse going forward.”
