Champion Trainer Aidan O'Brien and his 2,000 Guineas winning jockey son Donnacha O'Brien completed odds-on doubles at Fairyhouse today as Athena landed the concluding Fairyhouse Special Offers (Fillies) Maiden.
The pair had earlier won the second race with comfortable winner and 1/7 favourite Battle Of Jericho and 2/5 chance Athena won in similar enough style, despite having her winning margin greatly reduced close home by fast finishing half-length runner-up Tissiak
Donnacha O'Brien later said “she was entitled to do that on her last run and I kept it simple, got a lead on her, and she quickened up nicely.
“It's nice to get a win into her and hopefully she can progress from here.”
