"He has shown us he's a nice horse at home and he also jumps very well," said jockey Tom Hamilton after he'd ridden his second winner in Ireland aboard Shady Operator (11/1) in the Book Online 19 Punter Pack (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race at Limerick.
Hamilton sported the silks of Justin Carthy on the Court Cave newcomer, and try as Stooshie (Jamie Codd) might, he couldn't get to the patiently ridden victor in the closing stages, losing out by a neck.
Shady Operator had led from the two furlong pole and Hamilton added:"He hadn't done an awful lot at home but stayed on very well today and won well."
Shady Opertor's trainer Joseph O'Brien also had Cornelius Sulla in the mix here, and that one finished ninth under his sister Sarah.
The Stewards received a report from Ms. Nicola O'Connor, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, that she was unable to positively identify Quick Juke trained by P.J. Rothwell, from the markings provided on the passport. Evidence was heard from Ms. O'Connor and the trainer concerned. Having considered the evidence and taken into account that the passport was not endorsed by the trainer as required under the provisions of Regulation 8, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Quick Juke from this race under Rule 90 (v) and referred the matter to the Chief Executive of the Turf Club for further investigation.
The Stewards interviewed Mr T. Hamilton, rider of Shady Operator, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered his record, the Stewards cautioned him.
