The Henry de Bromhead-trained Nyman enjoyed a switch to the Polytrack surface when opening his account in the Christmas Party Nights Nursery at Dundalk.

The seven-furlong event proved a real triumph for the handicapper with many of the 14 runners still in contention spread across the track a furlong out.

Nyman (15/2) came home strongest under Billy Lee on the favoured stand side inside the final 100 yards to beat Shimmy Jimmy by half a length with Zambales a short head further back in third.

Lee said, "Just the last day I went to go forward and it ended up a strong pace, and we probably paid for that. It was a good run.

"He had a couple of nice runs in maidens and probably working off a reasonable mark today.

"Henry just said to take my time a little bit, just from the wide draw as well. I just had to sit and suffer, but I was able to get rolling before the turn in and he kind of has that long, sustained run without flashing. He can keep going once he gets in a rhythm and he hit the line well.

"Off that you would say he would get a mile as well. He settles well and first-time tongue-tie probably just helped. He did it well."
