The consistent Havana Notion gained a deserved success to give trainer John Feane a welcome winner in the Botanica International Apprentice Handicap at Tipperary.
A low draw proved no issue for Havana Notion as he raced on the outer of the field before launching his challenge a furlong from home.
Hugh Horgan 's mount edged slightly left inside the final furlong but was on top close home to record a length victory over the fast finishing 5/2 favourite Mymomentintime
The 8/1 winner was Feane's first since last August and he said afterwards:-
"They’re all running well, all hitting the board, so I’m happy with the way they’re running - just get a few more heads in front,” said Feane.
"He’s been a very frustrating horse, but he’s never beaten too far. I don’t think he liked Dundalk, but I kept running him there as he’s there as a fun horse.
"He’s a funny horse — he couldn’t pull him up again — but I’m glad he won. It was a good performance from the draw, and we’ll try to get his head in front again.
“He was a shade unlucky last time, but Hugh did a great job on him today and deserved another chance on him. He didn’t do too much wrong the last day."
