The T.J. Nagle trained point to point winner Just A Par made a successful, and impressive transition to hurdling at Punchestown today, winning the Vote In The Childrens Referendum On 10th November Maiden Hurdle under Tom Doyle.
Just the second sired runner by stallion Island House, Just A Par went to the front before the straight and while showing distinct signs of greeness, was kept up to his work by Doyle before recording a comprehensive seven lengths defeat of bumper winner Heck Thomas
Afterwards Nagle stated “Just A Par is a good horse and is still very green. This horse never ran in a schooling race but he ran in two point to points. When Richard (O'Dea, Nagle's amateur rider) rode him the first day, Just A Par was nearly too green to run. Richard then gave him a super ride when he won at Loughrea.
“He needs someone to take him along at a good gallop and Tom (Doyle) was impressed with him.”
Nagle also indicated that the winner, which he also owns, is for sale.
