Northgate keeps up Murphy's good run
Joe Murphy can do no wrong at present when saddling his sixth winner in just over nine days when Northgate defeated the short priced favourite Augustusthestrong to land the www.dundalkdemocrat.ie Race.
Chris Hayes produced the Mujadil gelding to challenge from two furlongs out and the pair had to battle all the way to line with favourite and just got up on the line to win by head.
“He’s always been a good horse, all of our horses need good ground that’s the key to him. We might bring him back for the big race here next Friday”, said Murphy afterwards.
“The good ground and the level track here really suited him and he’ll make a lovely hurdler someday.”
Johnny Murtagh who was aboard the 4/11 favourite Augustusthestrong lost his stick two furlongs out.
