Noras Fancy a wide margin winner of a maiden hurdle at Galway on Sunday, followed up in equally decisive fashion when taking the Powerstown Desmene Handicap Hurdle for the father and son team of Jimmy and Paddy Mangan.

The 100/30 chance, carrying a 6lb penalty but still 2lb “well in” as she was put up 8lb in future handicaps for her Galway success, had the race well under control from early in the straight.

The five-year-old mare, from the first crop of St Leger winner Brian Boru, had a very comfortable 11 lengths to spare at the line over Monahullan Prince (12/1). Black Mac backed from 11/2 down to 3/1 favourite on track, briefly looked a threat on the outer approaching the straight but could find no extra after two out and finished another three quarters of a length away in third. Burnswood (11/1) was fourth.

Jimmy Mangan said, “She stays very well and her future is chasing. The owner Michael Dixon had Galway Hurdle winner Natalies Fancy, and hopefully we have another one like that.

"She has a good cruising speed and jumped well for her first handicap. We took a chance running her back so quickly.”
