No nonsense from Mumbo Jumbo
The concluding Mooncoyne Bumper at Gowran today was run in heavy rain but it didn’t stop newcomer Mumbo Jumbo a first winner for his sire Vinnie Roe, make an impressive winning debut.
Ridden by James Carroll, Mumbo Jumbo quickly went clear of his rivals over a furlong out before staying on strongly for an easy win over Solidago who himself is also by first-season jumping sire Vinnie Roe.
Afterwards winning trainer Mags Mullins said “I’m delighted with him and he did it really well. Corky (Carroll, winning jockey) said he would have taken off if he asked him to.”
“He has a super attitude and answers every question we ask of him. He could be a fair horse but we don’t know where he’ll go next.”
