National the target for Whinstone
All roads lead to Aintree for Whinstone Boy after the Thyestes winner followed up in style at Clonmel today.
Sean Flanagan made all on the gelding in the Kilcash Chase and kicked for home turning in.
He stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-half length verdict over Leanne
6/4 favourite Glencove Marina was well held in fourth when crashing out at the last.
Jimmy Mangan is hoping that his charge gets into the Grand National and said afterwards:-
"It was mighty really. Liverpool is the plan and that win won't do any harm.
"Stamina is his plus. Today is something similar (windy and raining) to what it was in Gowran and I couldn't ask for anymore. I'll be doing a rain dance in Liverpool.
"He'll also get an entry for the Irish National but if the ground was fast he wouldn't run in either."
