My Mate Mozzie was left clear at the last to maintain his unbeaten record over flights in the Grade 3 For Auction Novice Hurdle at Navan.
The Born To Sea five-year-old led after the first in this two miler and held a lead of just over a length to Boothen Boy jumping the last.
Boothen Boy got it all wrong, though, and plunged to the turf badly hampering his stablemate, the third-running Chemical Energy in the process.
My Mate Mozzie , the 4/5 favourite, ran on to seal the spoils by 10 lengths from Chemical Energy (15/8). Ferdia picked up prize money in third at 50/1.
Jockey Mark Walsh said:- “The only negative I'd have about him is that he was jumping right most of the way.
“I think a right-handed track would suit him better but he's a lovely horse, very straightforward and he travels and jumps.
“I gave him a squeeze after the second last and he felt like he sprinted away from them. He's an exciting horse going forward.
“I gave him a squeeze after the second last but I hadn't fully gone for him and I was very happy I was always going to win.”
Paddy Power shaved My Mate Mozzie from 20/1 to 16/1 for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, and kept him unchanged at 20/1 for the Ballymore and Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.
