Muscle Beach was the second big priced winner of the day at Fairyhouse today, landing the Lyrath Estate & Spa Summer Ladies Day 13th July At Fairyhouse Handicap at 20/1, for trainer Charles O'Brien and jockey Fran Berry.
Muscle Beach was following on from the earlier bigger priced win of Agnes Stewart (22/1) and while O'Brien wasn't present, Berry later stated “the cheek-pieces probably helped but if you go back through his form, when he won his maiden we thought he was alright. For whatever reason he has never produced that since but has come down the ratings a bit and maybe he is just back to himself.
He did show some signs of life the last day but does like fast ground and it is extremely quick out there.”
Berry also expressed his dissatisfaction with ground conditions at the track (see earlier story).
