Murtagh completes Dundalk treble
Johnny Murtagh completed a treble when coming with a late surge on Fictional Account in the concluding 2m1f handicap at Dundalk. Solo Performer had the field on the stretch turning for home after a canny front-running ride from Willie Supple.
Murtagh got a good tune from his mount to chase down that rival in the final furlong, however, and record a length-and-a-quarter success.
Frank Broad was representing trainer Vincent Ward, who was away on holidays:
"He was away this time last year when she won at Leopardstown and we're thinking of sending him away everytime she runs!"
"Myself and Vincent train together. We only have half a dozen between us. He's a farmer and I'm assistant manager at Moyglare Stud.
"We'll give her a bit of time as she had a hard race. The ground was a bit deeper today than she would like.
"We'll try and find something for her at Leopardstown, a fillies race over 1m6f. 1m6f is her comfort zone. 2m1f is beyond her trip really. It was her first run of the season and she should come on a bit."
Murtagh had earlier scored on Seven Summits and Air Chief Marshal for Aidan O'Brien.
