Trainer Joe Murphy and jockey Gary Halpin must have been well chuffed with the decision to divide the Join Gowran Park Racing Club Handicap at Gowran, and the pair today combined to win both races with Solomons Seal completing the feat in the second 'split'.
Murphy's horses have shown terrific improvement in recent months, having been laid low by a summer virus, and the trainer is now averaging a horse-a-week to shed its maiden tag. Those six individual winning maidens have now bagged seven winners for Murphy since September 6.
Jockey Halpin steered Murphy's Littlevix to win the earlier division, and following Solomons Seal's success said “it’s great to ride winners for Joe as he’s been good to me and supported me since I lost my claim. He handled the ground well but he’d probably be better on better ground.”
