Munfallet may be entering the veteran stage at the age of nine but he shows no lack of enthusiasm for racing after recording a ninth career win in division two of the Tri Equestrian Superstore & Cafe Handicap at Leopardstown.
The son of Royal Applause, one of just two horses with ‘boutique trainer’ Denis Coakley and ridden by his son Ross, has now scored three times in the space of just over eight months.
The 18/1 chance tracked the leaders and really got going inside the final furlong to just peg back the front-running Out On Friday on the line by a head, with Olly’s Folly the same distance back third in a thrilling finish.
Denis Coakley said, “He’s a great horse and that’s nine races in total he’s won and three for us. He’s still as energetic as ever and it’s great to get that.
“He’s entered in Galway (on Tuesday) so he’ll probably head to there. Park Row is also entered at Galway on Monday so I could have the full stable out!”
