Mullins secures landmark victory
Six Silver Lane, far side, deprives Core Element at Laytown

Laytown was the only track in Ireland where Patrick Mullins hadn’t ridden a winner, but he put that right in a driving finish on Six Silver Lane (9/2) in the seven furlong handicap.
He had a final furlong battle with Mark Fahey and Core Element (16/1) and just prevailed by a nose on the Joanna Morgan-trained four-year-old. The winner put up a good display to carry 12-3 to victory.
He’s Got Rhythm (3/1 joint favourite) didn’t enjoy the best of passages throughout the race and was the eyecatcher in third under Robbie McNamara. Solent Ridge was the other 3/1 market leader, but he came home fifth.
Commenting on his ‘full house’ of wins at Irish racetracks, Patrick Mullins said: “It's brilliant to do it and I'm very grateful to Joanna for letting me ride.”
Joanna Morgan added: “He was drawn wide at Clonmel last time and everything went wrong. It's great to get a win and (owner) Hayley (O'Connor) is delighted.
“He loves that fast ground and has missed it all year – he's very genuine.
“He jumps like a buck and after the line he jumped a puddle. Patrick nearly fell off him as he got a fright.
“He's in the sales at Goffs, but if he stays with me we'll go jumping. He's a nice horse to have.”
Six Silver Lane is owned by Ladbrokes Ireland PR representative Hayley O’Connor. His last win also came on sand at Dundalk in May and this was the four-year-old’s fourth career victory.
