Mullins Father & Son score at Leopardstown
The ‘Duke Special’ Apprentice Handicap provided another thrilling finish with Fammi Sognare coming home in front for father and son combination of Tony and Danny Mullins.
Connections had to survive a Stewards Enquiry when the winner hampered Silly Dancer who in-turn hampered runner-up Flattery over a furlong out.
Mullins who took up the lead over a furlong out had to work hard close home to hold off the fast finishing Flattery and Ray Dawson by a short head.
Winning trainer Mullins said afterwards: “We’ll probably go to Killarney for a handicap depending on what the handicapper does to her.”
“I’d love to go to Galway with her but I don’t think it would suit her. A mile is too short and a mile and a half is too far.”
