Mugged at Ballinrobe last time, Burning Question supplied Gary Carroll with a 2nd festival 2018 victor for Galway specialist Sheila Lavery in the The Caulfield Industrial Irish EBF Maiden.
Dermot Weld newcomer Dabiyr (9/4 favourite) was the one of the money here, and though he ran on well for second, he failed by a length and three parts to catch Burning Question.
Drawn three the winner made all, and ridden to assert entering the straight, the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor kept on well in the final furlong.
"I wasn't full of confidence because my horses having been running a bit flat," admitted Ms Lavery.
She then added: "Gary (Carroll) said he was going to keep it simple and the filly is all heart.
"She loved the hill and she's improving all the time.
"Galway has been a lucky hunting ground and I'm delighted for the owners (the Question Mark Syndicate).
"She has a very good pedigree. Peter Reynolds bred her and he's here to see her win this evening.
"I knew she'd love the ground."
