"I'd say it was a proper race and he's a fair machine," said Jessica Harrington after New To This Town made it two from two when taking down the odds-on favourite Avenir D'une Vie in the concluding P.J. Foley Memorial INH Flat Race at Gowran.
Things looked to be going to plan for the Gigginstown and Mullins hope Avenir D'une Vie up the straight, but New To This Town grittily dug in from over a furlong out under Kate Harrington, and he got to the front in the final hundred yards for a length and three quarter win.
Gigginstown had a two, three here as their Ballela Boy was three parts of a length back in third.
They had fifty one lengths in hand over fourth home Sliabh Donn
"Katie said he really hadn't a clue; he only got going when the penny dropped but away he went then!," added Mrs Harrington.
"Being by Milan I'd imagine he'd be better on better ground and I'll see speak to the owners and see where to go next."
