The Galway Hurdle winning partnership of Pat Flynn and Stevie Gray were on the mark in the Read Willie Mullins In The Irish Racing Post Maiden Hurdle when Mr Clyde ran out an emphatic eight length winner.

A well-bred son of Turtle Island (he is half-brother to Cloone River and Aggie's Lad - the dam, Grangemills was a very useful and versatile type, winning a bumper, four on the level and she was placed in two hurdles) Mr Clyde led before two out and the outcome was soon beyond doubt as he went on to see off the favourite, Green Mining and Tijuana Dancer

Formerly in Sir Michael Smurfit's ownership but now sporting the silks of Alan MacAlister, Mr Clyde was getting off the mark here at the ninth time of asking.

A delighted Pat Flynn commented: "He wants good ground and he is just a lovely lovely horse. He'll win nicer races than this hopefully.

"I'm delighted with him and for his owner, Alan MacAlister, who has ten horses with me - five or six of them in training. He is from Perth in Australia and a horse that I won a race with, Atacanta, is now standing out there. He won more races when he went to Australia."
